It is so interesting to me, when you meet someone new. You don’t know anything about them except for what you see; how they look and act and what comes up in conversation or whatever they decide to tell you. Everyone is so individual and separate from everyone else. However, family plays a huge role in this individualism that we all have. When I first met my husband, I did not know anything about him, I just saw that he was tall and had dark hair, and he liked to have fun (and he did not mind attention). I observed that he was confident and kind and accepting. He is friends with everyone. As we got to know each other a bit better, I came to know that he is the fifth of nine children and he has several nieces and nephews and I connected these facts to what I observed about him being kind and accepting. When I met my husband’s family, I connected more of the dots. His mother is a very confident women, as well as his father. And each of his siblings are all very,...
Preparing for marriage! Where to begin? How does one REALLY prepare to get married? How do you know you are ready?             These are questions that many of us think about, especially as members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He talks about togetherness, as in sharing experiences together and making memories, talking to one another, as in going on meaningful dates where you can really talk about goals and plans, and the third and final category is time, spending enough time togeth...

It explains that we lived with our Father in Heaven before we came to this earth and that our genders are essential to our individual and eternal identity and purpose. This document, which was read in a general conference session for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in 1995 by a prophet, named Gordon B. Hinckley, has strengthened my testimony of the importance of families and the essential and divine roles that mothers, and fathers have in the home. It is stated in the proclamation that, “ By divine design, fathers are to preside over their families in love and righteousness and are responsible to provide the necessities of life and protection for their families. Mothers are primarily responsible for the nurture of their children. In these sacred responsibilities, fathers and mothers are o...
